Farris’ Walk-off Gives Lady Trojans’ First Sectional Win In Seven Years

GREENE – In the bottom of the seventh inning, Greene’s Kylie Farris stepped into the batter’s box with Faith Tierno standing out on the base paths. Farris then ripped a shot and scored Tierno for the walk-off game winner as the Lady Trojans defeating Unatego 11-10 Friday afternoon.

The victory was the first section win for Greene in seven years. 

Farris led the Trojans offensively, recording four hits in the win with four runs scored and two RBIs.

The visiting Spartans jumped out to a 2-0 lead after their first at-bats of the game but Greene answered with one run in the bottom of the frame.

The bats got going for the Lady Trojans in the second as they scored five runs, taking a 6-4 lead after two innings. In the top of the third, Unatego’s Hannah Brandow hit home runs to cut the lead down to one run.

Once again responding was the home team as Olivia Kennedy hit a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning to put Greene back up two runs.

After two innings of being held scoreless, the Spartans tacked on two in the sixth and tied the game at 10-10 in the top of the seventh.
